Guildford.Games awards recognises the outstanding achievements of those involved in gaming development in Guildford.
It was inspiring to share the room with the vibrant local gaming community at the Guildford Games Awards last Friday, I was joined by Andrew Douthwaite, who heads up Alliotts’ gaming sector team and Sarah Messruther a member of the team specialising in tax advisory.

Hosted by our friends at Guildford.Games, the awards aim to recognise the outstanding achievements of those involved in gaming development in Guildford, a well known hub of creativity.
It was fantastic to meet so many developers and artists and witness their passion and creativity. You can see that everyone in the community supports one another and there’s a real feeling of camaraderie (at least, until the Mario Kart games got underway at the end of the night!)
One of the big winners of the event was Glowmade, a games developer based in Guildford. I was hugely impressed and touched by their story, having relocated a number of talented developers to the UK over the last year. They took home an incredible 3 awards on the night:
King of MeatTheir latest game, King of Meat, will be released in Alpha stage by the end of this year. A wacky dungeon crawler with up to 4-player co-op, it looks perfect for a team gaming night.
What better way to bond with your colleagues than working together to solve puzzles and beat up hordes of enemies?! We look forward to getting our hands on this game, which looks like a lot of fun, and playing it with the rest of Alliotts gaming sector team.
Supermassive Games (who need no introduction) also took home two awards, including the coveted Players’ Choice Award, for their interactive horror game ‘The Casting of Frank Stone’, along with the Creative Award for ‘Autumn Willow’.
Other winners on the evening were:
It was a joy to hear the cheers fill the room as the winners took to the stage, people were just having a fun time and were there to celebrate everyone’s success, such a refreshing feeling. It’s clear how much everyone loves what they do, which is exactly why Alliotts LLP supports initiatives such as Guildford.Games as one of their sponsors.
They did a great job arranging this event, and we look forward to our continued involvement with Guildford.Games next year, including the exciting Guildford Games Festival in February 2025.
