National Payroll Week (1-5 September 2025) celebrates the vital work of payroll professionals in ensuring accurate, timely pay and supporting the economy through tax, pensions, and contributions.

It’s organised by the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) and encourages businesses to show their appreciation for their payroll staff. This designated week serves several purposes including:

  • Acknowledgement of payroll teams – It highlights the behind-the-scenes work of payroll staff who ensure that millions of workers are paid accurately and on time.
  • Recognition of economic impact – Payroll professionals help deliver tax, National Insurance, and pension contributions to HMRC and other bodies, contributing billions of pounds to the UK economy.
  • Raising awareness – It educates the public and businesses about payroll’s role in financial wellbeing, compliance, and supporting government services.
  • Professional pride and development – It’s a chance for payroll teams to share best practices, celebrate their skills, and promote payroll as a valuable career.

Alliotts’ payroll team is lead by Partner Dipali Buch. Senior Manager Shahbaan Dholoo heads up the experienced team which includes Manager Paul Grice and Senior Associate Claire Bradford.

The team handles payrolls from a variety of organisations, including SMEs, charities and the UK subsidiaries of international groups. Payrolls range in size from under five employees to a workforce of 500.

As well as processing payrolls, the team often use their skills and experience to undertake complex payroll audits.  Companies may need a payroll audits for compliance requirements, suspected discrepancies, internal reviews, or to ensure accurate reporting for tax and financial purposes.

Alliotts’ payroll team gathered together recently in our London office to share coffee and cakes with colleagues. They talked about what payroll administration involves, the one-off challenges they often face, and how they keep up to date with payroll changes and legislation.  Most importantly they shared how they are motivated by delivering an essential service to our clients.
