The London Film Festival runs from 5th to 16th October
The 66th London Film Festival runs from 5th to 16th October. It’s always a fabulous showcase for films, documentaries and shorts from all around the world. This year there are over 300 screenings. I’ve attended over half the previous 65 festivals, and I’ve never been disappointed.
There’s a great selection this year, but if I had to choose three that I’m particularly excited about:
‘Empire of Light’ stars Olivia Colman and Micheal Ward, and is set in a Margate cinema in the early 80’s. This is Sam Mendes’ first return to the LFF since American Beauty.
‘The Banshees of Inisherin’ from director Martin McDonagh (‘Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing, Missouri’ and the cult film ‘In Bruges’). Winner of best screenplay and best actor awards at the Venice Film Festival.
The Closing Night Gala ‘Glass Onion:A Knives Out Mystery’ is a whodunnit set on a Greek island. It stars Daniel Craig who is joined by Edward Norton (one of the best actors of the past 20 or so years, in my opinion).
Alliotts Media team are attending many screenings throughout the festival, and look forward to catching up with clients and friends in the film sector.
We’re seeing a lot of activity in the market. Everyone is relieved that UK tax incentives for the creative sector remain unchanged, and this continues to drive investment.
Come and see us at the Production Film Market
Alliotts Media Team will be at the Production Film Market held in the Institute of Directors, Pall Mall, on 11th and 12th October. Please do drop by and say hello if you’re around.
