The Chancellor announced plans to simplify the IR35
In his ‘MiniBudget’ today the Chancellor has announced plans to simplify the IR35 and off payroll working rules to remove ‘unnecessary complexity and cost’ for businesses, likely to be from April 2023.
These rules, which apply to contractors, include the application of a recently introduced and complex set of criteria for both the contractor and the employer.
A number of ongoing high profile cases may well have driven politician’s drive to sense check the rules and repeal some of the newer changes that have been introduced.
We will have to wait for the draft legislation to see the extent of their plans. However any repeal is likely to be effective from the date of the legislation, and not change the rules for cases under review.
