Alliotts staff attend the AGA Impact Academy in Lisbon
There are many great things about working at Alliotts and one of them is that even though we're a mid-size firm, we have an amazing international network of like-minded associates.
Alliotts is a founder member of the Alliott Global Alliance (AGA), which brings together independent law, accounting, and advisory firms from all over the world. We’re all about sharing knowledge, values, and business opportunities with our fellow professionals.
But here’s the really exciting part, especially for us at senior and manager-level. Every year, we have a chance to get selected for the AGA Impact Academy. It’s an awesome event that takes place in a different location each time. We get to meet up with employees from other member firms at the same level and talk about leadership, career development, and business practices.
This year, a group of six of us from Alliotts got to jet off to Lisbon for the academy. We met associates from France, Poland, Germany, the US, Brazil and Canada. We spent two days attending seminars and workshops, but we also made time to visit the city’s top-notch restaurants and explore the sights between sessions.
Our facilitators, Joanna Keeling and Elisabet Hearn, were inspirational. They’ve been there, and done that, having founded their own businesses and worked at companies like Amazon, Red Bull, HSBC, and McKinsey. They shared their wisdom on strategic thinking, effective leadership, staying motivated in our careers, and how to network like pros.
We shared innovative ideas and out-of-the-box solutions with our colleagues around the globe. We soaked up all that knowledge and brought it back. It wasn’t just all work and no play. Our hosts made sure we had plenty of bonding time over meals, a fun walking tour, and other activities. We formed genuine connections and solid friendships.
I can’t thank Alliotts enough for giving me this incredible opportunity. Alliott Global Alliance has expanded my thinking, and through sharing ideas with associates from different countries, I have a wider perspective in my approach.
The resignation on Monday 22 June of Sir Keir Starmer, timed for shortly before the (delayed) arrival at Euston of former mayor of Manchester, now MP for Makerfield Andy Burnham, could mark a major change in UK fiscal and economic policy.
