We are looking for an Assistant Manager

With offices based in Guildford and Central London, they offer a full range of accountancy services with specialist teams who advise on business strategy and corporate finance; a strong Media team and China Desk are amongst its niche offerings.
Alliotts joined the Shaw Gibbs Group in September 2024, a growing top 40 accountancy practice who provide expert solutions for entrepreneurial businesses and private individuals. Our firm has specialist expertise in sectors such as space, media, and gaming, offering tailored solutions to clients operating in these distinctive industries.

The Shaw Gibbs Group has several offices in Central and Southern England and have ambitious plans to expand our business. To support the organisation’s growth, we have an opportunity for an Assistant Manager to join our Accounts team. This role will be based in our Guildford office, and occasional travel to our London office will be required.
The Role
As part of the Accounts team, you will assist with providing various accounting and advisory services to a range of clients on a day to day basis. This includes preparing and reviewing statutory accounts files, the supervision of junior colleagues, and supporting the Director with bespoke advisory projects.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Manage a small portfolio of clients with a view that this will grow over time
- Preparation and review of financial accounts for limited companies, groups, partnerships, and more
- Preparation and review of year end working paper files and assisting auditors
- Manage and prepare the timely and accurate consolidation of financial accounting for groups.
- Reviewing financial accounts and files prepared by junior colleagues
- Engaging directly with clients to support the Director with advisory work in corporate finance matters such as due diligence and company valuations
- Manage detailed variance analysis, forecasting, budgeting and management reporting with comments.
- Manage the day-to-day client relationship to ensure the client receives a dedicated service
- Take ownership of assignments from initial briefing to presentation of final reports
- Contribute to how the Accounts team is managed
- Ensuring suitable training and supervision of junior members of the team is in place
- Staying up to date with changes in accounting and auditing standards, ensuring best practices are followed.
- Contributing to the firm’s strategy and growth initiatives, including process improvements and business development.
Qualifications and Experience
- ACCA/ACA qualified
- Education to degree level or equivalent
- 5 GCSEs or equivalent to include Mathematics and English
- Experience working in an accountancy practice
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards is essential
- An interest in corporate finance and business advisory work
- Experience of working on consolidated and Charities’ accounts desirable
- Experience of CCH Accounts Production, Silverfin and Xero accounting software desirable
- Good IT knowledge and skills, particularly Excel
- Ideally be able to drive, with own vehicle

- Keen to learn and develop – demonstrates understanding of own profession and keeps abreast of relevant developments
