The experience I have gained over 30+ years in accountancy professional firms and my role as the Chair of the Audit Committee of one of the ten largest charities in the UK for a three year period has given me a unique insight into the needs of my clients.
I provide strategic business advisory and a holistic planning viewpoint alongside the more usual audit, accounts, tax etc., services to all of my clients helping them to achieve their business and personal ambitions often ultimately including the trade sale of their business
Early in my career I was lucky enough to stay with the Maasai people for a couple of weeks which helped to shape my thoughts on effective leadership and I learnt a lot from observing the Maasai culture. An article in Accountancy Age summarises my experiences. Click here to read more.
Several years ago I took a group of clients to China. The aim: to establish a new clarity on business and personal plans, over a period of three days on the Wall. Click here to read the full article from the Surrey Business News.
Since then I regularly run courses to help clients with strategic business planning, often in unusual locations, including most recently in 2020 whilst wild camping in the bush in Kenya.
I enjoy unusual travel which often involves a fairly high degree of discomfort.
During my holiday time I've lived with a remote Maasai tribe for nine days, climbed Mt Kenya (16,000 feet high), Mt Kilimanjaro (19,340 feet high) three times and Mt Toubkal (13,655 feet high). I've also 'run' the Reading Half Marathon three times, the Great South Run and The Grim (8 miles cross country on the Army off-road vehicle testing grounds at Aldershot) twice; I've taken part in the Three Peaks 24 Hour Challenge, climbed the ridge route up Mt Snowdon and have been canoeing.
Although not the 'finest' physical specimen I have a stubborn will to win at all of my challenges which has carried me through safely.
