There is only a week to go until the UK Government’s ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ scheme opens to customers.  Eligible businesses are being urged to sign up now and take full advantage of the benefits of the scheme which starts on 3 August 2020.

The scheme will support around 130,000 restaurants, cafes, bars and other eateries, many thousands of which have already signed up to the scheme, including many independent businesses as well as larger pub chains and restaurants.

To be eligible to register, your business must:-

  • Sell food for consumption on the premises
  • Provide its own dining area or share a dining area for eat-in meals
  • Have been registered as a food business with your local authority on or before 7 July 2020

Eligible businesses therefore include:-

  • Restaurants
  • Cafes
  • Public houses that serve food
  • Hotel restaurants
  • Restaurants and cafes within tourist attractions, holiday sites and leisure facilities
  • Dining rooms within member’s clubs
  • Workplace canteens

Joining the scheme will allow them to provide 50% off food and non-alcoholic drinks, up to £10 per person, all day Monday to Wednesday throughout August. Customers can use the offer an unlimited amount of times. Participating restaurants and establishments will then be reimbursed for the discount they pass on to their customers.
