On 16 June 2017 as part of London Tech Week, Alliotts Partner Sudheer Gupta attended the UK investor-to-investor roundtable at the Australian Embassy in London. The discussion was jointly hosted by Trade & Investment Queensland and StartUp Catalyst and brought together a select group of experts to discuss, amongst other things; the impact of the angel investor tax incentives in the UK, and the latest local investment trends and deal flow.

StartUp Catalyst was formed to curate groups of startups, investors, corporates and innovation leaders and take these mission groups to international startup hotspots with the goal of transforming the startup and innovation landscape in Australia. Steve Baxter, one of Australia’s most successful tech entrepreneurs, was also present at the event.

There were representatives from both Australia and the UK covering; VC firms, Investors, Entrepreneurs, and University start-up incubators. The roundtable was an open discussion between attendees, talking not only about UK investment but also Australian. Sudheer added to the discussion by talking about some of the tax incentives available to investors in the UK such as EIS and SEIS.

Sudheer commented:

This was a great event to attend and was beneficial for everyone there. London Tech Week is the perfect showcase for London and shows how active the tech sector is, not only for home-grown talent but also for incoming start-ups from countries like Australia.
