As both our London and Guildford offices act as the registered office address for many of our clients, we have recently received letters addressed to a number of them, similar to the one below.
We would warn businesses to be aware that this is a scam.
The letter can be easily mistaken for an official communication or a legitimate invoice for a service; the sum of £195 is unlikely to cause an accounts department to lose any sleep. So it is easy to just approve it for payment.
However on closer inspection this is an attempt to extract £195 for an entry in a register that will be valueless, under the guise that many recipients will simply pay because it appears to be official in nature.
We have notified Companies House of the scam and suggest that if you are in any doubt about any communication that you receive, you contact them directly
