I am delighted to see Christopher Nolan's remake of Dunkirk has topped the UK box office this Summer. it has taken US$58m to date and has seen off surefire blockbusters Wonder woman (which topped the US box office), Guardians of the Galaxy and Pirates of the Caribbean.

I thought Dunkirk was a great film -  look out for Oscar nominations. Not only is it a great film but it is a humbling reminder of our history and the bravery of our parents and grandparents.

The success of Dunkirk is unusual as WWII films become less popular with mainstream cinema goers. It is similar perhaps to the Western genre - which has been replaced - maybe - by modern day comic hero and sci fi movies.

If you have not managed to see Dunkirk on the big screen, I would encourage you to take up the opportunity if you can, I don't think you'll regret it!
