Peter has a boundless enthusiasm for all things maritime and water-based ranging from sailing his dinghy based at a local sailing club to longer-range cruising in the big cruise ships. Highlights include cruising on the Rivers Nile and Yangste, dinghy sailing in the Indian Ocean and taking the helm of the Bounty (as used in the 1984 film starring Mel Gibson) in Sydney Harbour.
More recently Peter has taken up land based “cruising” and uses his motor home to tour the UK and continental Europe.
Peter is active in his local community through the local Lions Club which raises £25k a year by selling donated books from a mobile bookshop; this is used to support local youth and community projects as well as national and international appeals arranged by Lions International.
For relaxation Peter enjoys spending time with his wife and the family dog and entertaining his young granddaughter. He also enjoys photography, reading (mainly historical, crime and thriller novels) and listening to classical music.
